Patrick Short is a trial lawyer with over 23 years of experience representing clients in East and North Texas in personal injury, wrongful death, criminal defense, and selected civil litigation matters. Mr. Short is a dedicated and compassionate attorney with an exceptional trial record and a high acquittal rate. In recognition of his work, he has been selected as a Texas Super Lawyer for four consecutive years, and was recently invited to join the selective membership of the American Trial Lawyers Association’s Top 100 Trial Lawyers. He has also been board certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and in Criminal Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Short was admitted to practice in the state of Texas in 1984, and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, as well as Texas state courts. Mr. Short earned his J.D. from California Western Law School in 1982 and his B.A. in psychology from Baylor University in 1979. He graduated from the Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming in July 2009. Mr. Short also speaks Spanish. Mr. Short is an active member of the legal, civic, and religious communities. He is currently serving a two-year term (from 2009 through 2011) on the McLendon-Chisholm City Council, Place 3, and formerly served as the pastor at Lake Pointe Church from 2004 through 2007 and as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney in Rockwall County, Texas from 1985 through 1986. Mr. Short is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Christian Legal Society, the Christian Trial Lawyers Association, the Rockwell County Bar Association, the Dallas County Bar, and the Texas Bar Association.
